1. Free Tournament Offer
FBX Poker School will host a Free Tournament every Thursday and Friday at 8pm; any and all student players can enter for free
All players who text the business phone number (252-508-9114) will be given 25 starting chips; student players must text their name in order to enter the tournament
Only the 1st place winner will win a prize; the prize will not be awarded until 10pm and will only be awarded if the main practice (social) game has started with 4 or more people by 10pm
The prize awarded for the Free Tournament is personalized and determined by the amount of money the student is going to buy-in for the practice (social) game, up to $250
A student player can commit to buying in for the practice (social) game up to $250, and if the student player takes 1st place in the Free Tournament, they win the amount they committed to play for the practice (social) game, up to $250 , redeemable only after 10pm, and only redeemable if a social game has occurred with at least 4 participants before 10pm
In order to count as "committed", and thus be eligible for the Tournament prize, all buy-ins for the practice (social) game must be completed before the Free Tournament starts. If no amount is committed prior to the FPT entry, then $5 will be paid as the prize
If a student player commits to buying in for the practice (social) game but does not win 1st place, they do not lose any of their buy-in money; but they are still committed to playing with their pre determined buy-in chips for at least 30 minutes
If a student player wants to play the Tournament for free without committing to any buy-in to the practice (social) game, they can enter for free but they can win only the house minimum prize, which is $5 for first place
If a student player wants to play for free, the house minimum guaranteed prize is $5 for first place in the FPT
Each player can rebuy only one time for a $5 dealer appreciation fee (optional); the $5 rebuy gets the player 25 chips
There are no other add-ons or rebuys allowed
Tournament cannot start until at least 5 players are present - dealer cannot play and dealer is not counted toward the 5 players
Play starts at 8pm (or when there are 5 players) and unlimited new participants can be added until the tournament is three handed; except if a player(s) busts and this creates the final three, the busted player(s) may still re-buy if they have not done so already
Otherwise, one time re-buys are not allowed once there are only three players left
Blinds go up every 5 minutes and start at 1/2, then move up to 2/5, then 5/10, then 10/20 - doubling effectively every 5 minutes
The dealer cannot play or win the Free Tournament
Free Tournament will be canceled if it has not started by 8:45pm
1st place wins will be awarded at 10pm on the same night practice (social) game as long as the main practice (social) game has started with 4 or more people by 10pm; dealer does not count towards 4 people minimum
All prizes must be played for at least 30 minutes (until 10:30pm)
No prize will be awarded if the practice (social) game has not started by 10pm with 4 or more people
FBX Poker School has adapted Mohegan Sun Poker Room Poker Rules and will closely follow those posted rules
Dealer instructor may cancel the tournament at any time and for any reason
Any dispute will be decided by the FBX Poker School Tournament Director Nate H. unless said person is absent; in that case, disputes will be decided by FBX Poker School Assistant
2. High Hand Offer
The student who gets the best full house or better while playing Texas Hold'em at FBX Poker School regular practice game is eligible to win a prize
Student MUST text their NAME and a PHOTO of their high hand to (252) 508-9114 immediately (no later than 10 minutes of getting their full house or better)
Must win High Hand with a full house or better
Both hole cards of the student player must be used
Student player must make it to a showdown unless their opponents fold (can win High Hand before the river); a player who folds to a bet is not eligible for a high hand prize
Practice game must have been going for at least one hour for prize to be awarded (i.e. a game that only lasts 30 minutes is not eligible for High Hand prize)
FBX Poker School dealers will confirm all high-hands texted to (252) 508-9114
The best High Hand of the night, if the game has been going at least 60 minutes, will be awarded a $100 at the end of the night but will also win an additional $50 in practice chips for the very next Texas Hold'em play nights as long as they return by 10pm the next play night
If the game has been going for less than 60 minutes and a High Hand is hit, it will not be awarded if the game ends before 60 minutes of play
If not present by 10pm the very next Texas Hold'em game night, $50 bonus prize money is forfeited (for example: won "first high hand" on Friday, must play the following Thursday by 10pm)
If no game gets started the next play day by 10pm, the bonus prize of $50 is not awarded that or any other day
Total awarded cannot exceed $150 ($100 same night as first High Hand, $50 return next night after High Hand)
Practice chips awarded the second night must be played for 30 minutes
3. Ladies Night Offer
Thursday September 3, 2026 will be "Ladies Night"
Free lessons will be offered at 7pm to all ladies who RSVP by text to (252) 508-9114 at least 24 hours in advance
All women who play in the practice game AND who text the (252) 508-9114 will get between $5 and $100 in chips to play in the practice game
Practice chip amount awarded will be determined by use of a Plinko Board with a minimum prize of $5 and maximum of $100
The top prize of $100, however, is limited to the first person to hit it; no more than one $100 top prize can be paid
All ladies present and playing during the social game and who texted the FBX Poker School phone number will be receive a glass of wine and/or chocolate (as supplies allow)
4. Newcomers Welcome Night Offer
Friday September 11, 2026 will be "Newcomers Welcome Night"
Free lessons will be offered at 7pm to all brand new (never played) persons who RSVP by text to (252) 508-9114 at least 24 hours in advance
All newcomers (never played) who play in the practice game AND who text the (252) 508-9114 will get between $5 and $100 in chips to play in the practice game
Current players who bring a brand new player (never played) and AND who text the (252) 508-9114 will get between $5 and $100 in chips to play in the practice game
Practice chip amount awarded to newcomers and current players who bring new players will be determined by use of a Plinko Board with a minimum prize of $5 and maximum of $100
The top prize of $100, however, is limited to the first person to hit it; no more than one $100 top prize can be paid
6. Military Veterans Appreciation Night Offer
Saturday September 19, 2026 will be "Active Military & Veterans Appreciation Night"
Free lessons will be offered at 7pm to all military (retired or active) who RSVP by text to (252) 508-9114 at least 24 hours in advance
All new Active Military & Veterans (never played) who play in the practice game AND who text the (252) 508-9114 will get between $5 and $100 in chips to play in the practice game
Practice chip amount awarded will be determined by use of a Plinko Board with a minimum prize of $5 and maximum of $100
The top prize of $100, however, is limited to the first person to hit it; no more than one $100 top prize can be paid
7. All Tournaments and Practice Games Can be Played for Free
All tournaments and practice (social) games can be played for free. How? Well, the Free Points Tournament is already free.
We will also give $10 to any brand new (never played with us before) player who requests to play the practice (social) game.
New players can buy in for additional practice chips after they use their free $10
Any returning player who requests to play the practice (social) game for free can be given $2, $3, or $5 (whatever the big blind is).
Returning players are not allowed to buy in again if they chose to accept our big blind free play. There is no real incentive for returners to play for free. But, they can play for free as advertised if they really wanted to.
The request to play for free can only be made once per night and only at the beginning of the players play (first chips they play must be the free play).
Finally, anyone who wants to play our Big Quarterly Tournament can do so by requesting free chips equivalent to one big blind. If they choose this option, they can still buy into the tournament but will be docked one big blind from their starting stack. Free play is only allowed during the first level of play.
